Vir Chakra (VrC)

From 6 to 22 September 1965, Second Lieutenant N. Chandra Sekharan Nair was commanding an engineer platoon. He laid anti-tank mines on the near side of Dera Baba Nanak Bridge in the face of heavy artillery and small arms enemy fire. He also carried out a number of reconnaissances to assess the damage caused by enemy action to this bridge and provided valuable information for future planning.
