Citation

Naib Risaldar Mohan Singh was the leader of a troop of 17 Horse in the Shakargarh Sector. On 13 December the regiment was ordered to build up in the bridgehead and link up with infantry across the minefield. Naib Risaldar Mohan Singh rushed through the minefield despite the fact that it had not been breached.

Later, on 16 December, a squadron of the regiment was counter-attacked thrice by a regiment of Patton tanks. Though heavily outnumbered in these engagements, the enemy's assault was broken by the steadfast fire of the squadron in which the troop commanded by Naib Risaldar Mohan Singh knocked out eight enemy tanks.

Throughout, Naib Risaldar Mohan Singh displayed gallantry, leadership and devotion to duty of a high order.
