Vir Chakra (VrC)

Sepoy Mohamad lqbal was a member of a party ordered to raid an important Pakistani post on a feature in the Pakistan-occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir. On 5 December 1971, as the party was approaching the post, the enemy opened up with automatic weapons and 2-inch mortars causing heavy casualties to own troops. Sepoy Mohamad Iqbal, realising the necessity of silencing the enemy mortar, charged the mortar post single-handed and in the process was killed.

In this action, Sepoy Mohamad lqbal displayed gallantry, initiative and determination of a high order.
