Citation
On 14 March 1948, a platoon of 1 Kumaon was advancing from Naushera. The LMG No. 1 of the section in which Rifleman Man Singh was serving was seriously injured by enemy fire along with seven others. Rifleman Man Singh immediately manned the gun and brought intense fire on the enemy which materially helped the subsequent attack and capture of the objective.
He displayed remarkable initiative and spirit of sacrifice.
