Vir Chakra (VrC)

On the night of 9 September 1948, Lieutenant Colonel Mahabir Singh attacked an important enemy feature on the ridges of Dhar Valley in the Rajouri Sector with only two companies under him. It was a very difficult task due to the enemy positions being strongly fortified. Lieutenant Colonel Mahabir Singh very carefully planned the night advance and dawn attack, and conducted the operation very boldly and managed to capture the feature.

He set an excellent example to his men by giving them the lead.
