Vir Chakra (VrC)

Havildar Tinjong Lama was commanding a recoilless gun detachment in Chola area on 1 October 1967. When the Chinese opened heavy machine-gunfire on our posts, Havildar Lama brought his recoilless gun promptly into action and destroyed a Chinese heavy machine-gun post. Although his detachment suffered casualties, he continued to man his gun single-handed and damaged another Chinese machine gun.

In this action, Havildar Tinjong Lama displayed courage and determination.
