Citation
On 2 February 1948, a patrol of 7 Rajput was ambushed by the enemy in the Chhamb-Jaurian Sector in J&K Jemadar Kartar Singh, who was leading the patrol, showed great presence of mind and ordered his men to surround the enemy. His action was so successful that the patrol was able to capture 20-25 enemy and about 15 rifles.
