Vir Chakra (VrC)

Subedar Dadarao Ghodeswar was commanding a platoon in Mahar Regiment during an attack on an enemy position in an area in the Rajasthan Sector on 12 December 1971. Although there was a 600-metre deep minefield, he led the assault and captured the objective after a fierce hand-to-hand fight. While reorganising on the objective, the enemy launched a counter-attack. With utter disregard for his safety he charged the enemy and forced him to retreat.

In this action, Subedar Dadarao Ghodeswar displayed gallantry, determination and leadership of a high order.
