Vir Chakra (VrC)

On 9 April1948 during the advance to Rajouri, Naik Dalip Chand was in command of a platoon which came under very heavy automatic and mortar fire and was pinned down. Naik Dalip Chand at once got his section together and started advancing towards the enemy shouting to his men to press on. Enemy mortar gave them no respite. Nine men were wounded in enemy shelling but this did not worry the gallant NCO. Shouting the war cry, he charged with such fury that it completely dislodged the enemy.

Naik Dalip Chand showed supreme cold courage.
