Vir Chakra (VrC)

Sepoy Satyawan Singh of a battalion of Rajput Regiment was with a commando force which was given the task of capturing an enemy locality in Dera Baba Nanak area in Western Sector. Sepoy Satyawan Singh was in the leading elements with the company commander when a medium machine gun opened up from a pillbox from the flank, causing heavy casualties to our troops. Realising the necessity of silencing this gun, with complete disregard for his personal safety, he charged the pillbox and silenced the enemy gun killing the enemy. In this process, he was seriously wounded as a result of which he died.

In this action, sepoy Satyawan Singh displayed cool gallantry and determination of a high order.
