Vir Chakra (VrC)

When our post at Chandani in Ladakh was overrun by an overwhelming number of Chinese attackers on the night of 19 October 1962, Sepoy Dorje Punchok bravely held on in compliance with the orders of his post commander and was captured by the enemy. He, however, managed to escape after 24 hours. The courage and devotion to duty displayed by him were of a high order.
