Citation

During the operations against Pakistan in December 1971, Flight Lieutenant Rajendra Singh Wahi, as a pilot of a fighter bomber squadron, flew 13 operational missions in support of our ground forces and destroyed three tanks, four vehicles, one fuel dump and one gun position. In addition, he successfully bombed Chander airfield, Zafanval, a bridge over Dera Baba Nanak as well as enemy troop concentrations in Dharmanvillage. He carried out these missions despite heavy ground fire and air opposition. Throughout, Flight Lieutenant Wahi displayed gallantry, professional skill and devotion to duty of a high order.

Note: Pointing out an error in his citation, Squadron Leader Wahi has written to us that he has carried out 21 missions inside Pakistan and not 13 as mentioned in the citation.
