Citation

On 10 September 1965, in a tank battle with Pakistani tanks near Khem Karan, Major Suresh Chander Vadera of 3rd Cavalry deployed his squadron with imagination and boldness, resulting in the capture of nine enemies Patton tanks apart from many others destroyed. He showed great personal courage and remarkable leadership in this action which demoralised the enemy completely.
