Vir Chakra (VrC)

On 21 October 1962, when the Chinese captured our post in Srijap in Ladakh, Rifleman Tulsi Ram Thapa held his ground single-handed and resisted the invaders. When he ran out of ammunition he fought the enemy hand-to-hand and was captured in the encounter. Thereafter, he managed to escape from enemy custody and joined the next post after two days. In doing so Rifleman Thapa displayed courage and initiative of a very high order.
