Sep Narayan Thakare was with a company of 3 (Para) Maratha Light Infantry when it was ordered to attack a Pakistani post from behind. Sep Narayan Thakare, operating his light machine gun, killed about 8 to 10 of the enemy and captured arms and ammunition. The post was eventually taken by the company. Sep Narayan Thakare, who fought endangering his own life, was instrumental in the success of the attack.
