Vir Chakra (VrC)

2nd  Lieutenant S.N. Tandon was commanding a company of Garhwal Rifles. which had taken up a defensive position between Jang and Nuranang in NEFA which the Chinese attacked. On 17 November 1962, 2nd Lieutenant Tandon visited his forward posts under heavy mortar fire. The jawans under his leadership inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy and captured an MMG. With outstanding courage and determination, 2nd Lieutenant Tendon and his men withstood repeated enemy assaults and inflicted over 300 casualties.
