Vir Chakra (VrC)

Naik Jajula Sanyasi was the commander of a recoilless gun detachment of a battalion of Madras Regiment in the Shakargarh Sector. On 17 December 1971, the advance of our troops was held up due to medium machine gun fire from two enemy bunkers. Naik Jajula Sanyasi, with complete disregard for his safety, manoeuvred his gun to a flank and destroyed both the medium machine gun bunkers. In this action, Naik Jajula Sanyasi displayed gallantry, initiative and devotion to duty of a high order.
