Vir Chakra (VrC)

Commander Benoy Roy Chaowdhury was the engineer officer of the INS Vikrant, which was called upon to carry out patrolling of waters off Bangladesh during the period of hostilities against Pakistan in December 1971. This task included operations of fighter-bombers and anti-submarine aircraft from the "Vikrant" for attacks on enemy ships and patrol duties. Commander Benoy Roy Chowdhury, by his ceaseless efforts, made every equipment available for these attacks thus contributing to their success. Throughout, Commander Roy Chowdhury displayed commendable courage and professional skill.
