Vir Chakra (VrC)

Kapallisai Raju was a member of a naval unit which attacked the port of Khulna. On 10 December 1971, while this force was Involved in action against enemy air and shore forces, some of the crew were landed in the port of Khulna to capture the port. Despite the fact that the landing party was under very heavy machine gun fire from enemy ground forces, Raju continued to lead his men in hand-to-hand fighting, which finally resulted in the capture of the port.

In this, action, Kapallisai Raju, leading electrical mechanic (power) displayed gallantry, determination and leadership of a high order.
