Raj Bahadur Singh was second in command of a company of Brigade of Guards. His company was ordered to capture an enemy post in the Eastern Sector. During the assault Subedar Raj Bahadur Singh was wounded by a mine blast. The heavy machine gun fire of the enemy held up the assault of his company. Undeterred and unmindful of his personal injury, Subedar Raj Bahadur Singh crawled through the minefield and wire obstacle, lobbed a hand grenade inside the bunker, thus silencing the machine gun. He, however, succumbed to his injuries.

In this action, Subedar Raj Bahadur Singh displayed courage and determination of a high order.
