Vir Chakra (VrC)

Sepoy Rajaram Pharate was with a company of 3 (Para) Maratha on 6 February 1948 during the attack on a heavily defended enemy locality. The company came under intense fire. With total disregard for his safety Pharate rushed forward killing one enemy. The rest of his section, on seeing his example, also pounced upon the enemy and accounted for five enemy killed.

The strong determination and remarkable bravery of Sepoy Pharate had set a fine example for his comrades.
